چکیده

Systemic fungal infection occurs in approximately one per cent of the infants in neonatal intensive care units(l,2). Prematurity, prolonged endotracheal intubation, arterial and central venous catheters, use of broad spectrum antibiotics and steroids, necrotizing enterocolitis and gastrointestinal surgery have been associated with development of invasive fungal infections in these infants(l-3). Fungal endocarditis is an uncommon manifestation of systemic fungal infections and is usually related to the presence of indwelling catheters in the right atrium(4). We report a 40-day-old infant who developed a large right atrial mass due to fungus ball in the absence of any indwelling catheters.
